Thanks for visiting riverofguns.com. I got the idea for this website when I was looking for my first 1911 pistol in 2008. I've been a shooter and reloader for years, competing in Bullseye, PPC, USPSA, and other matches, but amazingly, I never owned a 1911 style pistol. I finally broke down and decided I couldn't go another year without a 1911.

I knew that the best deals on guns and gear could be found in the classified sections of the many gun forums. I went and checked my favorite couple of forums, and sure enough, a great deal on a S&W 1911 came by and I grabbed it. But after I was done, I found myself checking those classifieds more and more - there were so many great deals on such a wide variety of stuff. But I was only looking at 3 boards. It started to bother me that I had no idea how much other stuff I was missing. So I asked in one of them, "Hey, which other gun forums do you guys visit?". I expected that there must be maybe 20 gun forums out there. Over the course of a week, people posted over ONE HUNDRED gun related forums.

That gave me the idea for this website. I needed a central location where I could search for the guns and gear I wanted, across every one of those hundred plus forums. Now that I have it up and running, I figured other shooters would appreciate something like this. So try it out. Use the search function to look for the guns and gear you need and let me know what you think.

(And by the way, for my first experience with a 1911, I took that S&W out to a defensive shooting class and put 500 rounds of .45 through it, and it was glorious!)
